Student engagement has emerged as a critical factor influencing academic achievement, school participation, and learner well-being. In rural educational settings, fostering meaningful engagement requires the establishment of a positive school culture that promotes supportive relationships, inclusivity, learner participation, and a sense of belonging. This study explored how positive school culture influences student engagement among learners at Villa Fuerte Elementary School, a rural public elementary school in the Philippines. Employing a qualitative case study design, the study involved fifteen (15) learners, six (6) teachers, three (3) school administrators, and ten (10) parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, classroom observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis revealed five major themes: (1) Supportive Teacher-Learner Relationships Enhance Engagement, (2) Inclusive School Practices Foster Participation and Belongingness, (3) Collaborative School-Community Partnerships Strengthen Learner Motivation, (4) Positive Behavioral Expectations Promote Active Participation, and (5) Student Voice Encourages Ownership of Learning. Findings indicate that a positive school culture significantly contributes to learners’ academic engagement, attendance, motivation, and participation in school activities. The study highlights the importance of cultivating nurturing school environments that support holistic learner development and educational success in rural contexts.
